DATE: 4 June 2013
SUBJECT: Annual Wage Review 2012 – 2013 Decision
We write to advise that on Monday 3 June 2013, the Fair Work Commission’s Minimum Wage Panel handed down its Annual Wage Review decision under the Fair Work Act 2009.
The outcome of the review in relation to modern award minimum wages is that from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2013 the minimum weekly wages are increased by 2.6%, with commensurate increases in hourly rates on the basis of a 38 hour week. The national minimum wage therefore increases to $622.20 per week or $16.37 per hour.
The increase also applies to minimum wages for junior employees, employees to whom training arrangements apply and employees with a disability and to piece rates through the operation of the methods applying to the calculation of those wages.
In relation to transitional instruments, from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2013 wages in those instruments, including Division 2B State enterprise awards, are increased by 2.6% per week, with relevant increases in hourly rates (based on a 38 hour week)
Clients that currently have enterprise agreements in force will need to check their wages against the transitional wages that will take effect. Support should be sought from Pinnacle HR on this matter.
Wage Schedules for the Modern Awards will be prepared and available on our website for members shortly.
