Annual Wage Review Decision – June 2017

Employers should be aware that on Tuesday 6 June 2017, the Fair Work Commission’s Minimum Wage Panel submitted its Annual Wage Review decision under the Fair Work Act 2009. The national minimum wage has increased to $694.90 per week or $18.29 per hour.

The outcome of the review in relation to Modern Award minimum wages is that from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2017, the minimum weekly wages in Awards will be increased by 3.3%, with commensurate increases in hourly rates on the 38-hour week.

Wage Schedules for the relevant Modern Awards will be made available on the Pinnacle HR website for members, who will be advised by email.

Members who currently have Enterprise Agreements in operation are advised to check their wage rates against the Modern Award minimum wages that will take effect. It is also considered likely that there will be an increase in the wage claims sought during enterprise bargaining negotiations, as a result of this decision.
